Emily Carr’s Health Design Lab and Fraser Health Authority & Services collaborated on a research and design project considering patient engagement in healthcare—specifically on increasing patient safety in hospitals. Using participatory research and the facilitation of co-creation activities, the resulting initiative, “Patients First!”, is focused on creating and cultivating a culture of patient engagement in healthcare to increase patient safety, by creating a sense of belonging in which the patient would be an active participant at the core of the entire healthcare system.
